Never Forget
The Story of Eva Weyl
International Second Witnesses come from Terre Haute in the US: 50 students of Holocaust Literature and German class, 15–18 years old, created a beautiful graphic novel on Eva Weyl’s story who they met online before.
It focusses on Westerbork, a “make-believe-camp” (Eva Weyl) in the Netherlands from which more than 100.000 people got deported towards the East. In the camp, camp commander Gemmeker created the illusion of a “normal” life that shielded especially young prisoners like Eva Weyl from the reality of the deportations towards concentration camps. The novel is available in a printed format at the US High School and was digitized for this website.
